Inventory
Inventory is the stock a store has to sell: how many of each variant are on hand, where they are, and how that changes as orders and deliveries come in.
Inventory tracking stops you selling what you do not have and tells you when to reorder. Stores usually track three numbers: what is on hand, what is reserved for orders not yet shipped, and what is available to sell.
Why it matters
Overselling means cancelled orders and unhappy customers; too much stock ties up money. A history of every stock change — sales, restocks, corrections — explains why a count is what it is.
In Soooks
Stock is tracked per variant and per location, with available, reserved and incoming quantities and a history of every adjustment and its reason.
