Cash on delivery checkout

Soooks stores can offer cash on delivery at checkout: the customer places the order without paying, pays the courier in cash when it arrives, and you record the payment when the money reaches you. There is no platform fee on cash-on-delivery orders, on any plan.

How it works

  1. The customer chooses cash on delivery at checkout. They see your label for it and the note "Pay in cash when your order arrives", and the button says "Complete order" rather than "Pay now".
  2. The confirmation page tells them the amount they will pay in cash when the order arrives.
  3. You fulfil the order as usual. Delivery and payment are tracked separately, so an order can be delivered while its payment is still pending.
  4. When the cash reaches you, choose "Mark as paid" on the order. The payment is recorded on the order's timeline and in your reports.

What you can do

  • Turn cash on delivery on or off in Settings → Payments, and change the label customers see at checkout. It is on by default for new stores.
  • Make the phone number required at checkout, so you can confirm orders before they ship.
  • Send an automatic payment reminder email for orders that are still unpaid after a day — or turn it off.
  • Offer bank transfer and card payments next to cash on delivery, so customers can choose.

Limits

  • There is no extra fee setting for cash on delivery, and no minimum or maximum order amount for it.
  • Orders are marked paid one at a time, from the order page.
  • Marking an order delivered does not mark it paid — you record the payment when the cash actually reaches you.
