Average order value (AOV)
Average order value is the average amount customers spend per order: total sales divided by the number of orders.
If 50 orders bring in 2,500 in a month, the average order value is 50.
How to raise it
- Free delivery above an amount slightly higher than today's average
- Bundles and "buy two, get one" offers
- Suggested products in the cart
Raising AOV matters most when delivery and payment costs are paid per order, as with cash on delivery: a bigger order spreads the same delivery cost over more profit.
